Before you apply, please make sure you have these documents ready in a digital format so that you can upload them while filling out the application. These are at your own cost and organization.
All questions in this application form must be completed by the applicant ONLY, not by someone on behalf of the applicant, and attach all the required documents for it to be suitable for us to review.
- PASSPORT SIZE PHOTO – Recent passport photo from Konnect Vu or Top Shots in Port Vila. No other passport photos will be accepted. (VT1,000-VT1,800)
- BIRTH CERTIFICATE – If you do not have a Birth Certificate, collect a form from the Civil Status office. ( VT1,000 – VT2,000)
- MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE (If married) – If you are married and do not have a Marriage Certificate, collect a form from the Civil Status office. ( VT1,000 – VT2,000)
- SCHOOL / COLLEGE CERTIFICATES – Last School or College Attended (Free)
- PASSPORT – Your passport needs to have at least one year validity from the day you join a ship. If you do not have a passport, it is at your own cost and organization to have your passport valid for at least one year. You can apply at Civil Status. The cost to apply for a passport is VT20,000.
- EMPLOYMENT REFERENCES – Relevant to any of the departments in this application. This is Free of charge.
- NATIONAL ID CARD -This is Free of charge. If you do not have a number, collect a form from the Civil Status office.
- VNPF NUMBER – Proof of VNPF number by either ID card, certificate or statement. This is Free of charge. If you do not have a number, you can collect a form from the VNPF office.
- POLICE CLEARANCE – Your Police Clearance needs to be issued within the past 3 months. You can apply at the Police Headquarters. The cost is VT2,045 for 7 days processing or VT4,045 for same day processing
- LETTER OF SUPPORT- A letter from your husband, wife, partner and parents or Guardians confirming they support your decision to work on the ships.
OUR PROCESS (after submitting your application there are 3 stages to complete)
1. INTERVIEW
You will be contacted by our office and scheduled for an Interview. For this, dress smart, smell nice and be well groomed. You will only have 5 minutes to impress your interviewer. Remember to Smile, be confident and answer all questions in English.
2. DOCUMENTS – These are at your own cost and organization
If you are successful in your interview, we will require you to bring the following documents to our office:-
- DENTAL CERTIFICATE – It is at your own cost and organization to have a dental check up. You need to book your appointment at the Vila Central hospital or another dental practice. Your Dental Certificate needs to certify that you will not require any dental work for duration of 2 years which will be the duration of your medical certificate. If you require dental work, please have it completed and obtain a dental certificate once all work is completed. At Vila Central Hospital the cost is VT2,025 and VT500 for any treatment paid direct to Vila Central Hospital. The costs will vary at Private Dental Practices, therefore we suggest you speak to them before attending your appointment.
- CHEST X-RAY – It is at your own cost and organization to have a Chest X-ray. At Vila Central Hospital it costs VT2,025.
- PASSPORT PHOTOS – 6 recent passport photos from Konnect Vu or Top Shots in Port Vila. No other passport photos will be accepted. (VT1,000-VT1,800)
- SEAFARERS BOOK – Your Seafarer Book it is at your own cost and organization. It costs VT15,000. You can apply for one at the Vanuatu Maritime Safety Authority Office (Wharf Roundabout, Number 3, Port Vila).
3. MEDICAL EXAMINATION – This is at your own cost
Before you join a vessel you must pass a Medical Examination by an approved doctor in Vanuatu. We can make an appointment for you. You are required to have a chest x-ray and dental certificate for the examination.
